The UKs Fraud Prevention Service Bamboo

Frequently asked questions

Applying for a Bamboo loan is easy. Use the loan calculator on our website to tell us how much you would like to borrow and for how long. You will then be prompted to complete a short form with a few personal details. If you are arriving from a partner website, simply follow the provided instructions.

Once you have submitted your details, we will run some initial checks and provide you a quote tailored to your specific circumstances. This quote will outline your monthly repayments, the total loan duration and the APR (Annual Percentage Rate of interest).

If you decide to proceed with the offered quote, you may need to provide some additional information and documentation, all of which can be conveniently shared online.

As part of our dedication to responsible lending, all our loans are subject to further checks.

Bamboo is an award-winning personal loans provider that specialises in offering unsecured, flexible and affordable, loans ranging from £2,000 to £15,000 with terms spanning from 12 to 60 months.

You can easily obtain a quote, submit your application and assess your eligibility, without any impact on your credit score. We only run a hard credit search once you have successfully completed all necessary checks and are ready to e-sign your loan agreement.

Our loans have no additional charges or fees including no penalty for a late payment. However, it is important to note that missing a payment may impact your credit score.

We do not accept applications via telephone. Our loan application process is entirely online and designed to make applying for a loan a swift and hassle-free experience. You can easily apply from your mobile, computer, tablet, or any other device.

If you do have any questions during your online application, you can always reach out to our helpful customer service team via webchat or phone. Our contact details can be found on our Contact Us page.

Getting a quote and submitting your loan application with Bamboo does not impact your credit score. We only run a hard credit check on you once your application has been approved and you have e-signed your loan agreement.

Once a hard search is run on your credit file, this will be visible to other lenders and may affect your credit score.

Yes, borrowers must have a valid UK debit card. This could be either a Visa Debit, Visa Electron or Debit MasterCard. We do not accept prepaid debit cards.

A debit card is needed as loan repayments are collected from the card using a Continuous Payment Authority (CPA).

A CPA is when you authorise a company to take recurring payments from your debit card. As opposed to a standing order or direct debit, which is set up with your bank, a CPA is a contract with the company you are making payments to.

However, similar to direct debits, you do have the right to cancel a CPA at any time by sending a request to the company taking the payment or by contacting your bank.

Bamboo does not charge any application or upfront fees, nor do we deduct such fees from the loan advance.

Our borrowers receive the full loan amount they applied for. Before you take out the loan you will always know the interest rate and APR and how much in total you will have to repay over the term of the loan.

It is important to note that Bamboo only partners with credit brokers and intermediaries that do not charge you separately. So, with a Bamboo loan you will always know the total cost of the loan.

Stay alert and avoid scams:

We are aware of scammers attempting to impersonate Bamboo. Some customers have been approached to pay a loan fee or other upfront fee for their ‘Bamboo’ loan application and in some cases have been directed to a fake website. We have reported the ones that we know of to the FCA and the National Cyber Security Centre and continue to monitor this closely. If you have been approached by a company asking you for a loan fee or other fee on behalf of Bamboo, please do let us know by emailing underwriting@bambooloans.com, so we can report it to the necessary authorities.

Under no circumstances will Bamboo ever ask you for an upfront loan fee. If you have any concerns or suspicions about what you have been asked to do, please call us on 02383544969 and one of our agents will happily check if it is a genuine request from us, or not. Please also refer to our fraud prevention guidance for further information.

We understand not all our customers are the same. If you need additional support, please refer to our Accessibility help & support page for more information on how we can help you.
